“The regulatory hurdles to modernizing the electrical grid were beyond belief. It turned out that no fewer than 231 different state ad local regulators had to sign off on any big changes. Obama was appalled. “We went to the moon!” the president-elect said. “We can do better than this…Let’s make this a national priority—it’s gonna create lots of jobs!””—President-Elect Barack Obama (via Newsweek)
“Orzag also recieved final approval for the huge stimulus and a budget deficit that would account for about 3 percent of GDP. (Bu agreeing to 3 percent, Obama was condemning himself to tigh budgets for the rest of his presidency.)”—via Newsweek
“Obama’s leadership style falls somewhere between Bill Clinton’s wide-ranging deliberations and George W. Bush’s snap judgements. After one conference call about the economy in December, the vice president-elect an two-time presidential candidate told his aide Ron Klain, “We got this ticket in the right order.””—Vice President Joseph Biden, Jr. (via Newsweek)
Rep. LaTourette Mocks Democrats for “Big Lie” About GOP Opposition to Health Care (via JohnBoehner)
I love that John Boehner posts a video of a member of his own party on the floor of the House of Representatives who blatantly acknowledges that the Republicans are so weak that they “couldn’t stop a one car parade.” They really don’t have a clue.
I think your missing the point. It’s no secret that the Republican party is undermanned. Any 12 year old could have told you that. The point is that the party everyone voted for is split. And at a standstill. Can you say the useless party of Democrats?
No, I’m well aware of the point he’s trying to make. I just didn’t realize how in touch the Republican Party is with how bankrupt it is of ideas, and, in fact, are touting it.
Additionally, yes, you’re right. The Democratic Party is useless. Having health reform bills pass out of 5 Congressional committees, compiled into two bills and on the verge of coming to the floor of both chambers with probably a 90% chance of passage is certainly the definition of useless and working at a stand-still.
When your party has a big tent, you’re bound to have a couple clicks. Frankly, debate within a party is a good thing, but Republicans wouldn’t know anything about that because they’re too busy playing KGB/Secret Police with the moderates/non-neocons in their “party.”
I just woke up from my Post-There’s-No-Glee-This-Week-Depression nap. I thought it was 12pm so I rushed to get dressed and leave for the World Bank lecture we’re supossed to go to for class. Roommate saved me. Thanks roommate!!
There has been this itching feeling in the back of my brain and then I realized it's from all the "beliefs" I've wanted to post on Tumblr but haven't been able to. But, I highly doubt anyone misses my little (and sometimes bitchy and useless) insights on life.
