Ok so was just having a conversation with my mother about Adam Lambert. I was basically going on about how obsessed with him I am, and of course my mom had to let her homophobia or w/e influence our convo. Seriously, gay people are not fucking confused! The conversation went something like this…
Me: Omg I just love him. I seriously wish we were best friends. He could teach me to shop!
Mom: You know he said he sometimes kisses girls in clubs when he’s drinking and he says its fun…
Me: Do you hear yourself?
Mom: Maybe he didn’t have any relationships in high school. (Clearly meaning straight relationships, but I disregard it)
Me: Well I doubt he really dated anyone, he was in the closet. (Mind you, I just finished watching interviews where he said he didn’t date in high school and he felt like he missed out because he didn’t experience his first kiss, date, etc until much later…I warned you; I’m obsessed.)
Right after I finish watching him talk about how comfortable he is, how he definitely is gay, and how he’s been out and proud for 8 years, she comes in like she knows what she talking about and makes him sound like this seriously confused, insecure person. WTF! It pisses me off cuz its the same if I mention Ellen Degeneres or something. She takes it as me bringing up an “ally” that she feels she needs to discredit them immediately. God forbid I learn there are well-adjusted gay people living normally, comfortably, and openly in society! It may convince me to “stay gay”.
If only you guys could really relate…It sounds petty, but it happens all the time and I pick up on every subliminal message in her words. I wish I could just play dumb and ignore it all the time, but its getting ridiculous.
If only Adam Lambert and I were actually BFF, I could go live with him and not deal with this bullshit anymore. Don’t get me wrong, my mom’s a great person and I love her, but the longer I stay here the more resentment I feel. I pray I never have to spend another summer in this house.
I totally understand! And as a side note, at least you’re not lezzie and your mom still does that. But I totally understand. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that’s why I live in DC :)
I just have to say that Megan Kinney was the topic of conversation for like 30 minutes in my dance class on Wednesday, and I DIDN’T BRING HER UP. Some random girl in my class started talking about how Caitlin Kinney’s sister Megan totally deserved to be in the top 20…and literally started a long-ass convo in which every person agreed with her. Like, WHAT??? Megan is famous.
I thought so too! I loved that girl! I think they’re just going to put her through next season. They don’t want brothers and sisters competing against each other.
